Installation Procedure

  1. Position the engine mount to the engine block.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Working through the wheelhouse opening, install the engine mount to engine block bolts (1) and tighten to 50 (37 lb ft).
  4. Using the adjustable jack, lower the engine until the engine mount is sitting flush on the frame.
  5. Remove the adjustable jack and block of wood from the engine oil pan.
  6. Install exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side .
  7. Partially lower the vehicle.

  9. Clean the threads of the engine mount to frame bolts using denatured alcohol or equivalent.
  10. Apply threadlocker or equivalent to the threads of the engine mount to engine mount bracket bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  11. Install the engine mount to frame bolts and tighten to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).
  12. Install the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE (CHEVROLET) or FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE (GMC) .
  13. Raise the vehicle.
  14. Support and raise the differential carrier with a transmission jack.
  15. Install the left differential carrier mounting bolts and tighten to 100 Y (75 lb ft).
  16. Install the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers and tighten to 100 Y (75 lb ft).
  17. Remove the transmission jack from the differential carrier.
  18. Install the front stabilizer shaft insulators. Refer to STABILIZER SHAFT INSULATOR REPLACEMENT (1500) .
  19. Install the clip for the transmission cooler lines.
  20. Lower the vehicle.
  21. Install the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
  22. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
