Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the steering gear cylinder pipes for the following items:
    • Cracks
    • Dents
    • Damage to the threads
  2. Replace the steering gear cylinder pipes as needed.
  3. Lubricate and install the new steering gear cylinder pipe seals onto the steering gear cylinder pipes.
  4. Place the non-threaded steering gear cylinder pipe end (2) into the steering gear valve housing (3).
  5. Place the threaded end of the steering gear cylinder pipe (1) at the steering gear (4).

    Start the steering gear cylinder pipe fitting (1) but do not tighten entirely.

  7. Place the non-threaded steering gear cylinder pipe (2) into the steering gear valve housing (3).
  8. Place the threaded end of the steering gear cylinder pipe (1) at the steering gear (4).

    Start the steering gear cylinder pipe fitting (1) but do not tighten entirely.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  10. Install the power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate (2) and the power steering gear inlet hose retaining plate bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  11. Tighten the steering gear cylinder pipe fittings.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fittings to 19 N.m (14 lb ft).
