Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: Perform the Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn whenever the crankshaft position sensor is removed or replaced.

  1. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.3L) or Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L) or Starter Motor Replacement (6.6L) .
  2. Working through the wheel well opening, disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.

  4. Clean the area around the CKP sensor before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine.
  5. Remove the CKP sensor bolt.
  6. Remove the CKP sensor.
