Driver Master Control Malfunction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 GMC Sierra and 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Driver Window Switch parameters while using the appropriate power window switch on the driver master control. The reading should change between OFF/UP/DOWN/EXPRESS.
- If the scan tool Driver Window Switch parameter is always OFF, replace the DDS.
- If the scan tool Driver Window Switch parameter is always UP, DOWN or EXPRESS, replace the DDS.
Passenger Window Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector C1 at the PDS.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, reconnect the harness connector C1 at the PDS and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window motor.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A and control circuit terminal B.
- Ignition ON, command the passenger window UP and DOWN by using the passenger window switch. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
- If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to ground on either control circuit. If the circuits test normal, replace the PDS.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger window motor.
Rear Door Window Inoperative
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear window switch.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal F and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal G and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the power window switch rear down signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- Command the appropriate rear window DOWN with a scan tool, the test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Connect a test lamp between the power window switch rear up signal circuit terminal A and ground.
- Ignition ON, command the appropriate rear window UP with a scan tool, the test lamp should illuminate during the UP command.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, reconnect the appropriate rear window switch.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear window motor.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A and control circuit terminal B.
- Ignition ON, command the appropriate rear window UP and DOWN by using the appropriate rear window switch. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the UP and DOWN states.
- If the test lamp remains OFF during either of the commands, test for a short to ground on either control circuit. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate rear window switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate rear window motor.
Window Lockout Switch Malfunction
- Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Window Lockout Switch parameter while pressing the window lockout switch on the driver master control. The reading should change between ON and OFF.
- If the scan tool Window Lockout Switch parameter is always OFF, replace the DDS.
- If the scan tool Window Lockout Switch parameter is always ON, replace the DDS.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the Power Window Lockout Rear control circuit at the appropriate rear window switch.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the Power Window Lockout Rear Control circuit terminal D and ground.
- Command the rear window lockout ON and OFF by pressing the lockout switch on the driver master control. The test lamp should go ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to B+, if the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
