Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Disable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Disconnect the left park brake cable (1) from the intermediate cable equalizer bar (2).
  5. Release the left park brake cable from the frame bracket by compressing the locking tabs and pulling the cable conduit (3) rearward.
  6. Remove the park brake cable from the cable guides.

  8. Remove the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  9. Using the J 37043  (1), remove the park brake cable from the backing plate. See Special Tools .

  11. Remove the park brake cable assembly from the vehicle.
