Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Savana Special, 2003 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2003 GMC Savana, 2003 Chevrolet RV Cutaway, and 2003 Chevrolet Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the discharge hose into the vehicle.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the discharge hose nut (2) to the condenser.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  3. Install the grille.
  4. Raise the vehicle.
  5. Install the discharge hose to the compressor.
  6. Install the discharge hose to the compressor bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling .
  9. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J-39400-A  .
