Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Savana Special, 2003 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2003 GMC Savana, 2003 Chevrolet RV Cutaway, and 2003 Chevrolet Cutaway. - Disable the SIR system. Refer to ZONE 3 .
- Remove the shift lever. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .
- Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
- Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
- The steering column lock cylinder set should be in the OFF-LOCK position.
- Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case and push against the locking tab to remove.
- Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control connector from the park position switch assembly.
- Slide the park position switch assembly off of the linear shift assembly.

CAUTION: Do not use excessive force which removing the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column. Using excessive force may cause damage to the automatic transmission shift lock control and/or the steering column. - Remove the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column.
- Use a small screwdriver to pry the automatic transmission shift lock control from the steering column jacket assembly.
- Remove the 3 TORX® screws from the screws from the linear shift assembly.
- Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column support assembly.
