Front Output Shaft Assembly Removal

Front Output Shaft Assembly Removal

1 Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Oil Slinger - Model Dependent
NOTE:

The new design front output shaft oil slinger can be installed onto all current and prior model year Magna NQF, NQG, NQH, and NP0 applications providing the new design front output shaft is also installed. Refer to New Product Information .

2 Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Seal

Procedure

  1. Insert a screwdriver between the metal inner and metal outer portions of the seal.
  2. Pry upward in multiple locations working the metal inner portion of the seal off the shaft until removed.
  3. Once the inner metal portion is removed, insert a screwdriver between the outer diameter metal flange of the seal and the housing.
  4. Drive the screwdriver inward in multiple locations, the outer portion of the seal will be distorted and can easily be removed from the housing.
NOTE:

Remove the front output shaft seal in two pieces using the following procedure.

3 Transfer Case Front Case Half
NOTE:

Place the front case half on an arbor press.

4 Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Assembly
NOTE:

Press the front output shaft assembly from the front case half using an arbor press or soft-face hammer.
