Lubricant Level Inspection - Front Axle Shaft

  1. Raise the vehicle. Inspect the front axle for leaks. Repair as necessary.
  2. Clean the area around the front axle fill plug.
  3. Remove the fill plug. Inspect the oil level. The oil level should be between 0-0.38" (0-10 mm) below the bottom of the fill plug opening.
  4. If the level is low, add oil until the level is even with the bottom of the edge of the fill plug opening. Use the proper fluid. See FLUID RECOMMENDATION  .
  5. Install the fill plug. Tighten the fill plug to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Lower the vehicle.
