Hydraulic Brake Booster Accumulator: Removal

- Depress brake pedal at least ten times to relieve pressure in the accumulator. Remove the master cylinder from the hydraulic booster. See MASTER CYLINDER . Do not remove the brake pipes. Set the master cylinder aside in the engine compartment.
- Place the Accumulator Piston Compressor over the end of the accumulator. Install the nut on the stud. Depress the accumulator with a C-clamp. If accumulator doesn't move with moderate pressure, remove the C-clamp and depress brake pedal ten times to relieve pressure in the accumulator.
- Rotate retaining ring until either end of the ring is under the access hole. Depress and hold the retaining ring with a small tool inserted into the access hole. See Fig 1
- Remove the accumulator retainer ring using a small hook shaped tool. See Fig 2 . Release the C-clamp. Remove the nut from the stud. Remove the Accumulator Piston Compressor.
- Remove the accumulator and O-ring seal. See Fig 2
