Front Output Shaft Front Bearing Replacement

Preliminary Procedure

  • Ensure the bearing is installed squarely on the front output shaft.
  • Using a suitable adapter and an arbor press, remove the bearing assembly from the front output shaft.
1 Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Front Bearing Assembly
Tip:  Using a suitable adapter and an arbor press, install the bearing until the bearing bottoms on the front output shaft.
2 Transfer Case Front Output Shaft Hole Plug
Tip: 
  • Using a suitable adapter and an arbor press, remove the front output shaft hole plug by going through the front of the front output shaft.
  • Install the plug using the large side of the DT-48212  . See Special Tools .
  • Press the plug until the tool bottoms on the front output shaft.
