Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 GMC Sierra and 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install NEW seals onto the servo pistons and the servo cover.
- Install the 2-4 servo.
- Install the J 29714-A . See Special Tools .
- Tighten the bolt on J 29714-A in order to compress the servo cover. See Special Tools .
- Install the servo cover ring.
- Remove the J 29714-A . See Special Tools .
- Install the oil pan bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
- Raise the transmission.
- Install the transmission crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (2WD 1500/2500) or Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD 1500/2500) or Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (2WD 2500 HD/3500) or Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD 2500 HD/3500) .
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Install the heat shield and bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
- Install the catalytic converter pipe. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LY6 with Exhaust Flange) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (L9H with Exhaust Flange) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (Gen IV Engines with Exhaust Clamp) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LFA with Exhaust Clamp) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (LMM) .
- Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® VI transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check .
- Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions (TCM) .

NOTE:
It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.
Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM) or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.
