Lubricant is contaminated Drain and flush the axle housing thoroughly. Refill with the correct lubricant. Refer to Differential Oil Replacement (10.5 Inch Axle)  or Differential Oil Replacement (11.5 Inch Axle)  or Differential Oil Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle)  or Differential Oil Replacement (9.5LD Inch Axle) .
The clutch plates are deteriorated Replace the clutch plates. Refer to Locking Differential Cam Unit Disassemble (8.6 Inch Axle)  or Locking Differential Cam Unit Disassemble (9.5 Inch Axle)  or Locking Differential Cam Unit Disassemble (10.5 Inch Axle)  or Locking Differential Cam Unit Disassemble (11.5 Inch Axle)  and Symptoms - Locking/Limited Slip Rear Axle .
