Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K32 heated steering wheel control module.
- Test for less than 5.0 Ω between the ground terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the indicator control circuit terminal 1 and B+. Verify the heated steering wheel indicator is illuminated.
- If the indicator does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the S70L steering wheel control switch.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 4 and B+.
- Observe the test light while applying and releasing the heated steering wheel switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when applying and releasing the switch.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L steering wheel control switch.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S70L steering wheel control switch.
- Test for less than 15000 Ω between the control circuit terminal 7 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, test or replace the E15 heated steering wheel.
- Ignition OFF, connect the at the heated steering wheel control module. Disconnect the harness connector at the heated steering wheel.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal A and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, test or replace the K32 heated steering wheel control module.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal D and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K32 heated steering wheel control module.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K32 heated steering wheel control module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the K32 heated steering wheel control module.
