Circuit/System Testing: P0826

- Test the 12 volt reference circuit and the tap up and tap down switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
- If the circuits test OK, test the 12 volt reference circuit and the tap up and tap down signal circuit for an open or short to voltage.
- Test the DSC shift switch for correct resistance value, 8.11-8.39 ohms.
- If the resistance is not within specifications, replace the switch assembly.
- If the resistance is within specifications, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the sensor.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- Verify the scan tool parameter is less than the minimum value.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal Y for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal Y and the 5 V reference circuit terminal X. Verify the scan tool parameter is greater than the maximum value.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the sensor.
