Circuit/System Testing: P0826

  1. Test the 12 volt reference circuit and the tap up and tap down switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
    • If the circuits test OK, test the 12 volt reference circuit and the tap up and tap down signal circuit for an open or short to voltage.
  2. Test the DSC shift switch for correct resistance value, 8.11-8.39 ohms.
    • If the resistance is not within specifications, replace the switch assembly.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
  3. Verify the scan tool parameter is less than the minimum value.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal Y for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
  4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal Y and the 5 V reference circuit terminal X. Verify the scan tool parameter is greater than the maximum value.
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the sensor.
