Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the fuel temperature sensor.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Fuel Temperature Sensor parameter is colder than -39°C (-38°F).
- If temperature is warmer than the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and a ground, Verify the scan tool Fuel Temperature Sensor parameter is warmer than 120°C (248°F).
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If all circuits test normal, test fuel temperature sensor and IAT sensor.
NOTE:
If a short to voltage is present on the signal circuit, the 3A fuse in the jumper wire will open.
