Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump assembly in the vehicle with the power steering pump bracket.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Install the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump assembly (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the power steering pump bracket bolts and nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts and nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  9. Install the power steering pump rear bracket nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

  11. Connect the power steering fluid cooler hose and the power steering fluid cooler hose clamp to the power steering pump assembly.
  12. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  13. Connect the steering shaft coupling from the steering gear. Refer to Steering Shaft Coupling Replacement .
  14. Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
  15. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (6.6L)  or Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L) .
  16. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  17. Program the power steering control module. Refer to Control Module References .
