Disassembly Procedure

- Remove the power steering pump assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L) , Power Steering Pump Replacement (6.6L) or Power Steering Pump Replacement (4.3L) .
- Remove the power steering fluid reservoir studs (2) from the power steering pump assembly (1).
- Remove the power steering pump fitting (4).
- Remove the power steering pump fitting seal (3).
- Remove the power steering pump flow control valve (2) and the power steering pump flow control valve spring (3) from the power steering pump assembly (1).
- Separate the power steering fluid reservoir (1) and the power steering pump (2).
- Remove the power steering pump seals (1, 4, 5).
- Remove and clean the power steering fluid reservoir magnet (3).
- Inspect the welch plug in the power steering pump (2). DO NOT REMOVE IT. If the welch plug is deformed or dislodged then replace the power steering pump (2).
