Installation Procedure

  1. Compress the park brake cable spring and insert the park brake cable fitting end to the park brake on the secondary brake shoe (1).

    Position the secondary brake shoe to the rear brake backing plate.

  3. Install the brake shoe return spring.

    Insert the hook end of the return spring to the brake shoe from behind the web.

  5. Install the primary brake (1) shoe return spring and position the primary brake shoe to the rear brake backing plate.

    Insert the hook end of the return spring to the brake shoe web from the outer face.

  7. Install the lower brake shoe spring (1).

  9. Install the brake shoe hold down springs and cups (1).

    Compress the spring and rotate the assembly 1/4 turn to install to the hold down pins.

  10. Disassemble, clean and lubricate the threads of the brake shoe adjuster with high temperature brake lubricant.
  11. Assemble the brake shoe adjuster.

  13. Spread the brake shoes apart slightly and install the brake shoe adjuster (1).

  15. Install the adjuster actuator lever (1) to the pivot pin on the primary brake shoe.

  17. Install the brake shoe adjuster actuator lever spring (1).
  18. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
