Installation Procedure

  1. Bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding (Non-Hybrid)  or Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding (Two-mode Hybrid) .
  2. Fig 1: Brake Master Cylinder And Master Cylinder Seal

    NOTE: Ensure the brake master cylinder seal is fully seated in the groove on the master cylinder housing.
  3. Install the brake master cylinder seal (1) and the master cylinder to the adapter.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install 2 new brake master cylinder nuts (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

    NOTE: Install the brake pipes in the same location as noted during removal.
  7. Install the 4 brake master cylinder brake pipe fittings (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  9. Connect the brake master cylinder left supply brake pipe fitting (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  11. Connect the brake master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  13. Connect the brake master cylinder reservoir return hose quick connect (1).
  14. Connect the brake master cylinder reservoir supply hose quick connect (2).
  15. Connect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  16. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling (Non-Hybrid)  or Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling (Two-mode Hybrid) .
  17. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Two-mode Hybrid) .
