Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Sierra, 2009 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2009 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect harness connector X2 of the right I/P junction block.
- Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit terminal B3 (component side) and ground.
- Command the scan tool Accy/RAP Relay ON and OFF. the test lamp should cycle on and off as appropriate.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the accessory voltage circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the accessory voltage circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If equipped with a sunroof, connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit terminal B3 (harness side) and ground. The test lamp should not illuminate.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the accessory voltage circuit for a short to voltage.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
