Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 GMC Sierra and 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    NOTE: Do not reuse the original O-ring seal.
  1. If reinstalling the old CMP sensor, install a NEW O-ring seal onto the sensor.
  2. Install the CMP sensor to the wiring harness jumper.
  3. Connect the CMP sensor wiring harness jumper to the CMP sensor.
  4. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  5. Install the CMP sensor and wiring harness jumper to the engine front cover.
  6. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Install the CMP sensor bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LU3) or Water Pump Replacement (LMM) or Water Pump Replacement (LH6, LY2, LY5, and LMG) or Water Pump Replacement (LY6, L76, and L92) or Water Pump Replacement (LFA) .
  10. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (7) to the CMP sensor wiring harness jumper.
