Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the transfer cases or the shafts when prying the seals for removal. Damaging the sealing surface may cause leakage or require replacement of the damaged component.
  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Remove the transfer case from the adapter. Refer to TRANSFER CASE .
  3. Using the J 36825  (2) and J 23907  (1) remove the input shaft seal. See Fig 1.
    1. Poke a hole in the seal using a very small punch.
    2. Thread the tool J 36825  (2) into the hole.
