Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inoperative blower motor(s).
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal C and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal A and battery voltage.
  5. Press the VENTED seat switch through the high, medium, and low positions to OFF. The test lamp should illuminate until the OFF position is reached.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
    • If the test lamp is ON with the switch in the OFF position, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the blower motor.
