Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the surge tank outlet hose/pipe to the engine.
  2. Position J 38185  to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat assembly. See Special Tools .
  3. Install the windshield wiper transmission. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement .
    4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the bolt to the bracket securing the surge tank outlet pipe to the engine.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  5. Position J 38185  to the clamp in order to connect the outlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1). See Special Tools .
  6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
