Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If installing a new master cylinder reservoir, install the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .
  2. If installing the original master cylinder reservoir, clean the master cylinder reservoir with denatured alcohol and dry with filtered, non-lubricated compressed air.

  4. Install the secondary master cylinder reservoir seal (1) to the master cylinder reservoir.

    Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container

  5. Install the primary master cylinder reservoir seal (2) to the master cylinder reservoir.

    Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.

  7. Install the master cylinder reservoir (1).

    Carefully press the master cylinder reservoir into the master cylinder body until the pin holes are aligned.

  9. Using a suitable drift from the inboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the primary reservoir retaining pin (1).

  11. Using a suitable drift from the outboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the secondary reservoir retaining pin (1).
  12. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
