Installation Procedure

  1. Apply a small amount of clean 75W-90 synthetic gear lube, GM P/N 12378261 (Canadian P/N 10953455) to the sealing lips of the seal.

  2. Using the J 45017  (1) and a hammer, install the drive axle flange seal (2) in the differential side cover (3).

  3. Using the appropriate tool, install the wheel drive flange in the rear differential.
  4. Install the rear wheel drive shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (RWD) or Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD) .
  5. Inspect the fluid level of the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Lubricant Level Inspection .
  6. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
