Differential Case

    CAUTION: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution .
  1. Clean the differential case in solvent.
  2. Inspect the differential case for the following conditions:
    • Chips or cracks
    • Damage to the bolts holes (1)
    • Unusual wear, grooves or scoring
    • Damaged side bearing flanges (2)
    • Heat discoloration
    • Worn differential pin bores (3)

    CAUTION: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution .
  4. Clean the ring gear in solvent.
  5. Inspect the ring gear for the following conditions:
    • Damage to the threaded holes (1)
    • Unusual wear or heat discoloration to the gear teeth (2)

  7. Clean the pinion flange in solvent.
  8. Inspect the pinion flange for the following conditions:
    • Splines for wear, pitting or twisting (1)
    • Sealing surface for grooves or pitting (2)
