Clutch Rattle

Cause Action
DEFINITION: A rattle noise coming from the clutch components with the clutch disengaged or engaged.
Review the Symptoms - Clutch  and perform the necessary inspections.
Idle rattle clutch engaged Replace the engine flywheel, due to faulty dampener springs. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .
Clutch is improperly installed Replace the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .
Clutch disc splines and input shaft splines worn
  1. Inspect the clutch disc hub to input shaft splines for excessive clearance.
  2. Replace the clutch assembly if the clutch splines are worn. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .
  3. Replace the input shaft. Refer to Transmission Disassemble .
