Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: If a new lower intermediate steering shaft is being installed then transfer the position of the alignment marks from the old component to the same locations on the new component. Failure to transfer the alignment marks may result in an off-center steering wheel after installation.
  1. Position the lower intermediate steering shaft to the vehicle.

  3. Connect the lower intermediate steering shaft (1) to the steering gear (5) and the intermediate steering shaft (2).
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Install the lower intermediate steering shaft bolt (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the intermediate steering shaft bolt (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 30 N.m (23 lb ft).

  7. Install the left side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
