Rear Housing Disassemble

Tools Required
- J 23907 Slide Hammer
- J 26941 Bearing and Bushing Remover
- If 2WD vehicle, using J 26941 and J 23907 , remove the slip yoke seal.
- If 4WD vehicle, remove the bolts and the main shaft rear bearing retainer from the rear case.
- If 4WD vehicle, use a brass drift to remove the main shaft rear bearing from the rear case.
- Using the J 23907 , remove the rear case shift shaft bushing. The shift shaft bushing may come out without having to use the J 23907 .
- Inspect the countershaft rear bearing race.
- If the bearing is faulty, use a suitable blind hole puller and a slide hammer to remove the bearing race.
IMPORTANT:
The shift shaft rear bushing in the rear case is not serviceable.
