Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under any sheet metal, or the crankshaft pulley, or damage may occur.
- Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE (CHEVROLET) or FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE (GMC) .
- Remove the engine mount to frame bolts (1)
- Undo clip for transmission cooler lines.
- Undo the front stabilizer shaft insulators. Refer to STABILIZER SHAFT INSULATOR REPLACEMENT (1500) .
- Support the differential carrier with a transmission jack.
- Remove the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers.
- Lower the differential carrier until it rests on frame/crossmember.
- Remove the front differential carrier support bracket.
- Position an adjustable jack and a block of wood under the engine oil pan and raise the engine slightly.
- Remove exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement - Left Side .
- Working through the wheelhouse opening, remove the engine mount to engine bolts (1).
- Using the adjustable jack, raise the engine slightly until there is enough clearance to remove the engine mount.
- Remove the engine mount toward the front of the vehicle.
