Preliminary Procedures
- Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe housing from the pickup box. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Pipe Housing Replacement .
- Remove the endgate. Refer to Endgate Replacement (Pickup Box) .
- Remove the tail lamps. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement (Chevrolet)
or Tail Lamp Replacement (GMC)

- Disconnect all electrical connectors and wiring harnesses from the pickup box.

Pickup Box Bolt (Qty: 8)
Tighten:
85 N.m (63 lb ft)

Pickup Box Tip:
- Use help as needed to remove the pickup box.
- Use the alignment pins on the frame of the vehicle to help reinstall the pickup box.
- Transfer any parts as needed if replacing the pickup box.
