Park Brake Actuator: Installation

- Install the park brake actuator lever housing to the backing plate. See Fig 1 .
- Perform the following procedure before installing the backing plate bolts.
- Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
- Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 or Red LOCTITE(tm) #272 to the threads of the bolt.
- Install the backing plate bolts. Tighten the backing plate bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE SHOE .
- Install the axle shaft. See appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT in PARK BRAKE SYSTEM under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
- Install the rear brake rotor. See BRAKE ROTORS
- Install the rear park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower the vehicle.
- Enable the park brake automatic adjuster. See PARK BRAKE CABLE AUTOMATIC ADJUSTER under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
- Adjust the park brake. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT in PARK BRAKE SYSTEM under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
