Control Valve Body Locating Pin Replacement

Special Tools 

J 43779:  Locating Pin Installer

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

    CAUTION: DO NOT mar the main valve body surface when installing the locating pin(s). Tap gently on the locating pin installer tool. Heavy or continued hammering will damage the transmission case surface.
    NOTE: The main valve body has 5 locating pins that can be replaced. Do not replace a locating pin unless the pin is damaged.
  1. Remove the locating pin from the main valve body.
  2. Place a new locating pin into J 43779:  installer (3).
  3. Install J 43779:  installer with the locating pin into the locating pin hole.
  4. Gently tap J 43779:  installer until J 43779:  installer touches the main housing surface.

    Specification:  The locating pin installed height is 10.7-11.3 mm (0.42-0.44 in) above the main valve body surface.
