Shift Detent Lever Bearing Replacement

Preliminary Procedure

  • Using the J 7079-2  , remove the bearings from the front case half. See Special Tools .
  • Ensure the bearings are installed squarely into the bearing bores.
1 Transfer Case Shift Detent Lever Bearing - Inner
Tip: 
  • Ensure the printing on the bearing is facing upward.
  • Install the bearing using the long side of the DT-48215  . See Special Tools .
  • Press the bearing until the tool bottoms on the front case half.

  • DT-48215  Shift Detent Lever Bearing Installer. See Special Tools .
  • J 7079-2  Universal Driver Handle - Non-Threaded. See Special Tools .

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
2 Transfer Case Shift Detent Lever Bearing - Outer
Tip: 
  • Ensure the printing on the bearing is facing upward.
  • Install the bearing using the short side of the DT-48215  . See Special Tools .
  • Press the bearing until the tool bottoms on the front case half.
