Circuit/System Testing

Driver Door Lock Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the DDS.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit listed below and ground.
- B+ circuit terminal 2
- B+ circuit terminal 4
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the DDS and disconnect the harness connector at the driver door latch.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the DDS.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the control circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the DDS.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 3 and control circuit terminal 2.
- Command the door to LOCK and UNLOCK by using the driver door lock switch. The test lamp should briefly illuminate when commanding the LOCK and UNLOCK states.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the DDS.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch.
Passenger Door Lock Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the PDS.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit listed below and ground.
- B+ circuit terminal 2
- B+ circuit terminal 4
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the PDS and disconnect the harness connector at the passenger door latch
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the control circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the PDS.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the control circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the PDS.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 5 and control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the door to LOCK and UNLOCK by using the passenger door lock switch. The test lamp should briefly illuminate when commanding the LOCK and UNLOCK states.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the PDS.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door latch.
Rear Door Lock Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the I/P fuse block.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal E1 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Connect the X1 harness connector and disconnect the X3 harness connector at the I/P fuse block.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A2 and ground.
- Ignition ON, command the doors to LOCK with a scan tool. The test lamp should briefly illuminate during the LOCK command.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal A3 and B+.
- Command the doors to UNLOCK with a scan tool. The test lamp should briefly illuminate during the UNLOCK command.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or and open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the I/P fuse block. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door latch.
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the lock control circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- LR passenger door latch terminal 2
- LR passenger door latch terminal 3
- RR passenger door latch terminal 5
- RR passenger door latch terminal 6
- If greater than the specified range, test the lock control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal and the circuit fuse is normal, replace the I/P fuse block.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminals of the door latch listed below:
- LR passenger door latch terminals 2 and 3
- RR passenger door latch terminals 5 and 6
- Command the door to LOCK and UNLOCK with a scan tool. The test lamp should briefly illuminate when commanding the LOCK and UNLOCK states.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the I/P fuse block.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear door latch.
