Removal Procedure

- Remove the left wheelhouse inner panel. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (Chevrolet) or Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Left Side (GMC) .
- Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (Non-HP2)
- Remove the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipe Replacement .
- Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
- Remove the water pump to engine coolant pipe nuts (2) from the studs (1)
- Remove the engine wiring harness retainer from the inner stud.
- Remove the water pump nut (1) and bolts (2). Note the location of the bolts. The bolts are three different lengths.
- Remove the water pum (5).
- Remove and discard the water pump O-ring (3) and coolant pipe gasket (4).
- If required, clean and inspect the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Cleaning and Inspection .
