Crankshaft Balancer Installation: Installation

The EN 46106 must be installed onto the flywheel. See Special Tools .
Use the J 41998-B , nut, bearing and washer to install the crankshaft balancer. See Special Tools .

IMPORTANT: Do not lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.

Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.

IMPORTANT: Ensure the crankshaft balancer keyway is aligned with the crankshaft key.

Place the crankshaft balancer in position on the crankshaft.

Thread the J 41998-B in the crankshaft. See Special Tools . Ensure you engage at least 10 threads of the J 41998-B before pressing the crankshaft balancer in place. See Special Tools .
Push the crankshaft balancer into position by tightening the nut on the J 41998-B until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft end. See Special Tools .
Remove the J 41998-B . See Special Tools .

Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt.
Tighten:
1. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
2. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059 . See Special Tools .
