Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector of the CPP sensor.
  2. Measure for 1,160-1,175 ohms between the 5-volt reference terminal C and the low reference terminal A of the CPP sensor.
    • If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the CPP sensor.
  3. Measure the resistance between the signal terminal B and the low reference terminal A of the CPP sensor. Sweep the CPP sensor through the entire range. The resistance should vary low to high and high to low without any spikes or dropouts.
    • If the resistance is erratic with spikes or dropouts, replace the CPP sensor.
  4. Apply 5 volts and ground to the applicable terminals of the CPP sensor, and measure the voltage between the signal terminal B and the low reference terminal A. Sweep the CPP sensor through the entire range. The voltage should vary between 4.3-0.6 volts without any spikes or dropouts.
    • If the voltage is not within the specified range or is erratic, replace the CPP sensor.
