Control & Shift Solenoids: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Savana and 2003 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not remove the valve body for the following procedure. Removal of the 1-2 accumulator is necessary only if servicing the pressure control solenoid.
  1. Remove the transmission oil pan and filter. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION.
  2. Remove the 1-2 accumulator if necessary. See ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY  .
  3. Disconnect the internal wiring harness electrical connectors from the following components:
    • Transmission fluid pressure switch. See Fig 2 .
    • 1-2 shift control solenoid.
    • 2-3 shift control solenoid.
    • Pressure control solenoid.
    • TCC PWM solenoid.
    • 3-2 shift control solenoid.
  4. Remove the pressure control solenoid retainer. Remove the pressure control solenoid. See Fig 3 .
  5. Remove the 1-2 and 2-3 shift control solenoid retainers. Remove the 1-2 and 2-3 shift control solenoids. See Fig 4 .
  6. Remove the 3-2 control solenoid retainer. Remove the 3-2 control solenoid. See Fig 4 .
