Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (LY7)  or Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement (LLT) .
  2. Remove the upper intake manifold with the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement (LY7) .

  3. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.

  4. Remove the wiring harness from the side of the camshaft cover by sliding the conduit down and outboard.
  5. Remove the wiring conduit retainers from the camshaft cover by rotating the wiring harness conduit retainers counterclockwise.

    IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to disconnect the engine front cover electrical connectors.
  6. Remove the wiring harness from the front of the camshaft cover.
  7. Reposition and secure the wiring harnesses away from the camshaft cover in order to provide clearance.

  8. Remove the ignition coils.

  9. Remove the camshaft cover.
  10. Remove and discard the camshaft cover seal and grommets.
