Removal Procedure

Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement (LLT) .
Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LY7) or Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LLT) .
Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.

Remove the wiring harness from the side of the camshaft cover by sliding the conduit down and outboard.
Remove the wiring conduit retainers from the camshaft cover by rotating the wiring harness conduit retainers counterclockwise.

IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to disconnect the engine front cover electrical connectors.

Disconnect the camshaft position sensors (1) and camshaft actuator valve (2) electrical connectors.
Reposition and secure the wiring harnesses away from the camshaft cover in order to provide clearance.

Remove the ignition coil bolts (1).
Remove the ignition coils (2).

Remove the camshaft cover.
Remove and discard the camshaft cover seal (1) and grommets (2).
