Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 GMC Sierra and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install a NEW front cover.
- Install the front cover bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- If reinstalling the old CMP sensor, install a NEW O-ring seal onto the sensor.
- Install the CMP sensor to the wiring harness jumper.
- Connect the CMP sensor wiring harness jumper to the CMP sensor.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
- Install the CMP sensor and wiring harness jumper to the engine front cover.
- Install the CMP sensor bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the CMP sensor wiring harness jumper.
- Lubricate a NEW CKP sensor O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
- Install the NEW O-ring seal onto the CKP sensor.
- Install the CKP sensor and bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector (2).
- Install the engine wire harness clip (1) to front cover.
- Install the engine shield and bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
- Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
- Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LU3) .

IMPORTANT:
Do not reuse the original O-ring seal.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT reuse the original CKP sensor O-ring seal.
IMPORTANT:
When installing the CKP sensor, make sure the sensor is fully seated before tightening the bolt. A poorly seated sensor may perform erratically and may set false DTCs.
