Crankshaft Balancer Installation

Tools Required

  1. The EN 46106  must be installed onto the flywheel. See Special Tools .
  2. Use the J 41998-B  , nut, bearing and washer to install the crankshaft balancer. See Special Tools .

    IMPORTANT: Do not lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal or crankshaft balancer sealing surfaces. The crankshaft balancer is installed into a dry seal.
  4. Apply lubricant to the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore.

  6. Place the crankshaft balancer in position on the crankshaft.

  8. Thread the J 41998-B  in the crankshaft. See Special Tools . Ensure you engage at least 10 threads of the J 41998-B  before pressing the crankshaft balancer in place. See Special Tools .
  9. Push the crankshaft balancer into position by tightening the nut on the J 41998-B  until the large washer bottoms out on the crankshaft end. See Special Tools .
  10. Remove the J 41998-B  . See Special Tools .

  12. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.
  13. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  14. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt.

    Tighten: 

    1. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059  . See Special Tools .

  16. Remove the EN 46106  . See Special Tools .
