Installation Procedure

Important:  DO NOT use any type of sealant or adhesive on the transfer case adapter seal.

1. Install the new transfer case adapter seal.
2. Install the transfer case adapter.

   NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the transfer case adapter mounting bolts.

   Tighten 

   Tighten the transfer case adapter mounting bolts to 55 N.m (40 lb ft).

4. Install the transmission mount assembly.

   Important:  Do not reuse the old gasket if it is damaged, replaced it. DO NOT use any type of sealer in place of the gasket.

5. Install the new transfer case gasket.

6. Install the transfer case assembly. Refer to TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
7. Lower the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
