Removal Procedure

NOTE: Use care when handling the torsion bars in order to avoid chipping or scratching the coating. Damage to the coating will result in premature failure of the torsion bars.

Raise the vehicle: Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
Install the J 36202 to the torsion bar adjuster arm.

Using the J 36202, increase the tension on the adjustment arm.
Remove the adjustment bolt and the retaining nut.
Record the number of turns required in order to remove the adjuster bolt.

Remove the J 36202 from the adjuster arm.
Slide the torsion bar forward and remove the adjustment arm.

Slide the torsion bar back partially through the crossmember.

Important: Note the L for left and the R for right on the front end of the torsion bar because there are different bars for the left and right sides.
Drop the front end of the torsion bar down and slide the bar forward.
