Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: Use the proper tools in order to separate all ball joints.
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
  2. Remove the inner tie rods (5) from the relay rod.
  3. Remove the prevailing torque nut (5) from the connecting rod (1) ball stud.

    Discard the prevailing torque nut (5).

  4. Use the J 24319-B  In order to remove the connecting rod from the relay rod.

  5. Remove the prevailing torque nuts (5) from the idler arm (1) ball studs.

    Discard the prevailing torque nuts (1).

  6. Use the J 24319-B  in order to remove the relay rod from the idler arms.
  7. Inspect the threads on the tie rod for damage.
  8. Inspect the ball stud threads for damage.
  9. Inspect the ball stud seals for excessive wear.
  10. Clean he threads on the ball studs.
