Camshaft Installation

  1. Lubricate the following components with clean engine oil.
    • The camshaft lobes
    • The camshaft bearing journals
    • The camshaft bearings
    2. NOTE: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.
  2. Install the three 8-1.25 x 100 mm bolts in the camshaft front bolt holes.
  3. Using the bolts as a handle, install the camshaft.
  4. Remove the three bolts from the front of the camshaft.

  5. Install the camshaft retainer.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the camshaft retainer bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the camshaft retainer bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
