Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement In Body Front End.
  3. Remove the starter motor bolts. Reposition the starter aside. The wiring to the starter does not require removal.

  5. Install J 44643  in order to hold the flywheel.

  7. Remove the lower fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement - Lower in Engine Cooling.
  8. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
  9. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

  11. If required, clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection .
